Freight line problems arose after the dissolution of Yugoslavia and later on eastern block countries handicapped Turkish international overland transporters to reach Europe. In the Turkish-European freight line, lack of life and freight safety, pass tolls increasing 10 times of the regular price in a day, inadequacy of entrance certificates, restriction of tonnages and navigational bans had to be overcome.

In search of alternative lines, Turkish international overland transporters realized that the only solution to the problems endured was RO-RO transportation.

RO-RO revived the transporters who had crucial difficulties driving through Austria and could not find a solution for years. After continuous negotiations, programmes implemented and experiences gained in the process, Turkish transporters are passing through Austria, the most convenient route to Western Europe, by train today. Route problems in transportation are highly eliminated by RO-RO freight shipping combined with Austrian train transportation and additional transit bills obtained as a result of train line utilization.

U.N. RO-RO Operations presents the best model of combined transportation. Scheduled RO-RO shipping reaches Europe in 52 hours. By unique system used by U.N. RO-RO, combining land, sea, rail and airways, trailers are carried via sea while their drivers use the flights. Gaining the chance to be with their families for longer periods, drivers work in more humane conditions.

The level reached in international freight business with the accumulation of knowledge on transportation of freight, vehicle and equipment foundation and corporations involved in worldwide working network has created a competitive international freight business field in Turkey within the last years. Certainly U.N RO-RO is the organization who has done the major contributions to this development.

Being prominent especially in RO-RO freight business with its ships, with the management policies and with the partnership structure that is composed of international overland transportation competitors, U.N RO-RO Operations has achieved a lot including the input for the improvement of combined transportation. With this objective, U.N RO-RO Operations, transferring freight vehicles and drivers by means of train and airplane arrangements, is aiming the international trade to operate smoothly, appropriate for economical and liberal processes.
