16.8.2005     Gamma-Ray Security

U.N Ro-Ro has purchased and installed a $1.5 million Gamma-Ray system to avoid human trafficking in its new Pendik Ro-Ro Port which was built with an investment of $60 million. The Gamma-Ray system was installed in Pendik Port as a ‘Non- Intrusive Inspection’ tecnique to avoid slowing down human and goods traffic due to new regulations. The system was manufactured by US based SAIC and even European countries do not possess this system.

The system performs two different checks: radiation and Gamma-Ray inspection. The system detects  high radiation levels and gives out warnings. Then the vehicle is inspected with the Gamma-Ray system. The Gamma-Ray system is environment-friendly and convenient compared to other systems.

An X-Ray system used fort he same purpose requires 5-15 minutes and a 30m by 50m building. The inspection takes a long time. On the other hand the Gamma-Ray inspection only takes 20 seconds.
